Why should a dash cam be hardwired?
Hardwiring gives the camera a clean, permanent power connection and is the correct way to enable parking mode on compatible systems. It also keeps the accessory socket free and removes hanging power cables from the cabin.
Parking protection
Motion or impact events can be recorded while the vehicle is parked, depending on the selected camera and settings.
Battery protection
Low-voltage cutoff or a battery management module helps prevent parking mode from drawing the vehicle battery too low.

SpeedSafe installation starts at $250 for a one-channel camera and $280 for a two- or three-channel customer-supplied system. Complete GKU supply-and-install packages range from $400 to $550.
Can you install a dash cam I already own?
Yes. Bring your compatible camera to our Sunshine workshop or choose mobile installation. We mount the cameras, hardwire the system, conceal the cables and complete the initial setup.
Does hardwiring enable parking mode?
Yes, on compatible cameras. Hardwiring supplies power while the ignition is off. We configure parking mode and use low-voltage protection where applicable so the camera can stop drawing power before the vehicle battery becomes too low.
How long does a dash cam installation take?
A one-channel installation is scheduled for about 45 minutes. Two- and three-channel installations are scheduled for about one hour, although vehicle trim and camera configuration can affect the final time.
Do you offer mobile dash cam installation?
Yes. SpeedSafe provides mobile installation across Melbourne at homes and workplaces with suitable vehicle access. Travel fees are calculated from our Sunshine base.
What access do you need for a mobile installation?
The vehicle needs to be parked on a safe, reasonably level surface with enough room to open the doors and work around the vehicle. Please provide the vehicle keys and make sure building or car-park access is approved before the appointment.
Will hardwiring affect my vehicle warranty?

The SpeedSafe warranty covers installation workmanship for three years. Camera hardware, memory cards and manufacturer accessories remain subject to their own product warranty terms.
Should I choose one, two or three camera channels?
One channel records the road ahead. Two channels usually add rear coverage. Three-channel systems can add a cabin or additional exterior view, depending on the model. The best choice depends on your vehicle, parking risks and whether you drive for work or rideshare.
